5 Wellness Hacks for Busy Women

Prepare healthy snacks

Life as a busy woman often feels like a constant whirlwind. Between work, family, and social commitments, it can be challenging to prioritize your own well-being. But remember, selfcare isn’t selfish – it’s essential for your physical and mental health.

This isn’t about radical life overhauls or demanding wellness regimens. These are simple, practical hacks designed to fit easily into you already busy schedule.

1. The “Two-Minute Rule”

We’ve all been there: a mountain of small tasks looming over us, each task seems insignificant, but collectively, they drain our energy. This is where the “Two-Minute Rule” comes in.

The principle is simple: If a task takes two minute or less to complete, do it immediately. Anything from answering a quick email to putting dishes in the dishwasher.

By tackling these small tasks promptly, you keep them from piling up and creating a sense of overwhelm. This frees up mental space and it gives you a sense of accomplishment.

2. Mindful Movement: Sneak it in

Finding time for dedicated exercise can feel impossible when your schedule is packed. But, physical activity doesn’t have to be a formal workout.

*Take movement breaks – Take short, active breaks throughout the day. Instead of sitting at a desk all day, stand up and stretch every 30 minutes
*Walk during your lunch break – Fresh air and sunshine does wonders for your body and your mind.
*Move during everyday activities – Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park far away, do some squats or leg lifts while you wait for the kettle to boil.

These short bursts of activity can significantly boost your energy and improve your overall well-being.

3. Batch Similiar Task

Feeling scattered and unproductive? Try batching similar tasks together.

*Schedule all of your phone calls together.
*Dedicate an afternoon to running errands.
*Plan meals for the week. (Eliminating the “what’s for dinner?” dilemma.)

By grouping similar tasks, you streamline your workflow and increase your efficiency.

4. Prioritize Sleep

Sleep is often the first thing to go when life gets busy. But skimping on sleep can have significant negative impacts on you mood, energy level, and overall health. Here’s some tips to help

*Establish a relaxing bedtime routine.
*Create an environment that’s conducive to sleep. (Think dark, quiet, cool.)

Prioritize sleep even when your short on time. That 15-20 minutes of sleep makes a big difference in your overall health and well-being.

5. The Power Hour

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to forget to do things that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Dedicate one hour each day to something that you enjoy. Whether it’s reading, painting, spending time in nature, or simply relaxing with a cup of tea, this power hour allows you to recharge, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of balance in your busy life.

Remember: Consistency is Key

These wellness hacks are most effective when practiced consistently. Start with one or two and gradually incorporate more as they become habits. Selfcare isn’t about perfection. It’s about finding small, sustainable ways to prioritize your well-being amidst the chaos of everyday life.

Hot Summer Days

Wildflowers in Pierre Marquette State Park, Illinois

These are my favorite days.

So far today I have mowed the grass, dressed unused flower beds with fresh straw for our cats, made herbal tea from herbs that I grew and dried sweetened with local honey from my BIL.

Now I’m cooking yellow rice to go with the beans I have already cooked.

For lunch, I had a salad with raw spinach, cilantro, a little pickled cabbage, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and my guilty pleasure – Ranch dressing. Topped with peanuts for more crunch.

I stretched and limbered up in the sun, in the backyard, in the freshly mowed grass.

I have been missing feeling strong. I’m beginning to feel strong again.

Now, back to my glass of herbal tea with lime.

I love hot summer days.

🚨Wellness Reminder🚨

🌟 Are you sipping soda more often than water? 🥤

💧 Let’s talk about how that can impact your hydration levels.

🚫 While soda might seem like a refreshing choice, it can actually lead to dehydration.

Here’s why:

1️⃣ High Sugar Content: Most sodas are loaded with sugar, which can actually increase your body’s need for water to process it. When you consume sugary drinks, your body works overtime to balance out the sugar levels, which can leave you feeling parched.

2️⃣ Caffeine Effect: Many sodas contain caffeine, which is a diuretic. This means it can increase urine production, leading to fluid loss and ultimately dehydration. Remember, caffeine can be dehydrating, so it’s essential to balance your intake with water.

3️⃣ Empty Calories: Soda provides little to no nutritional value, leaving you feeling unsatisfied and potentially craving more unhealthy snacks. Opting for water or other hydrating beverages can keep you feeling full and energized without the added calories and dehydration risk.

🌊 Stay Hydrated, Stay Healthy: Remember to prioritize water as your main source of hydration throughout the day. Aim for at least 8 glasses (64 ounces) daily, or adjust based on your activity level and climate.

✨ Let’s make choices that support our well-being, starting with staying hydrated! Swap out that soda for a refreshing glass of water and feel the difference it makes in your energy levels and overall health. Your body will thank you! 💦

Honestly, I don’t remember

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

I titled this, honestly, I don’t remember, because honestly, I don’t remember.

Compliments are not something that I hang my hat on. Mostly because I have a feeling that they are insincere.

The feeling is changing though.

As I partake more and more of the “cooperation before competition” mindset, we (by we, I mean the selfhelp mindset shift collective) are giving more compliments sincerely, as opposed to a conversation starter that they used to feel like.

It’s nice. It feels better. Maybe that’s because I feel better. I feel better moving farther away from competition and towards cooperation.

What are your thoughts about cooperation before competition?

Switch your bad habits for good ones

The Power of Small Steps with Big Results

Are you ready to unlock the potential for positive change in your life? It’s time to embark on a journey of transformation by mastering your habits, one small step at a time.

You see, habits are like the building blocks of our lives. They shape our daily routines, influence our behaviors, and ultimately determine our outcomes. But breaking free from bad habits and embracing good ones can feel like an overwhelming task, right?

Well, I’m here to tell you that change doesn’t have to be daunting. In fact, it’s often the small, consistent actions that lead to the most significant results. That’s why I’m excited to share with you some simple yet powerful strategies for transforming your habits and reclaiming control over your life.

The #1 thing to do to break a bad habit is to admit that you have it. I recommend starting there. Start changing one habit. And start small. Baby steps will get you where you are going.

Now that you know which bad habit you are going to start with, decide which good habit that you want to replace it with. You need to fill that void.

Simple Yet Powerful Strategies

Write down the new habit that you want to adopt.
Tell your accountability partner about it.
Make it easy.
Use reminders.
Stack your new habit with another habit you already have, commonly referred to as habit stacking. i.e. brushing your teeth, brewing coffee in the am, walking the dog, etc.

Here’s a helpful acronym:
T.A.G. – Tiny. Achievable. Goal

Often, we get derailed from our good intentions because we get overwhelmed. Breaking a new habit down into bite sized pieces makes it much easier to adopt and internalize thereby making it a habit.

See what I did there? T.A.G.
