How I am coping with anxiety.

Times are a bit stressful right now, eh? How are you coping? Well? As good as you can? Terrible? Piece of cake?

This is my first experience with “social distancing”. It may be the first in all of our lifetimes. Fingers crossed that it’s the last. Something tells me it won’t be the last time though. I watched a TEDtalk given by someone that studies epidemiology. Her opinion is that the more we encroach on wildlifes habitats, the more we are risking picking up their diseases. Yikes!!

I have to admit, I’m afraid. I’m afraid of the future and the unknown. I’m afraid that people close to me may get this disease and not recover. As an uninsured person, I’m afraid that I will get the corona virus and not have access to medical care. So, I’ve been feeling quite a bit of anxiety, especially the last two days.

I almost lost my cool when my 88 year old neighbor asked me to take her to H & R Block to get her taxes done. She was aware of our current threat and wanted to get it done before things got worse. Her peace of mind is important, so I agreed to take her. But I waited in the car. Same at the post office and the bank. Maybe I was over-reacting but I would rather err on the side of caution than to under-react and Clarita gets the corona virus. Ya know?

Then yesterday, I had a bad toothache. Of all things. I haven’t had a toothache in a couple of years. But yesterday was my day.

To cope with my anxiety, I am making sure to keep my meditation practice alive and well. I played a sound bath in the background for hours yesterday. I’m eating a lot of produce and trying to cut out processed foods. I’m drinking lots of water. Lots and lots of water. And I’m practicing breathing techniques.

Here’s some tips for easing anxiety naturally, drug and toxin free.

Are you familiar with sound baths? Go to YouTube.com/soundbaths. It should be easy to find one that you like. They are very soothing and they raise your vibration.

Eat more produce which naturally crowds out the processed food. Your body needs nourishment in times of stress.

Get outside. Preferably in the sun. Preferably barefoot in the grass. (It’s not just a movie, lol).

Pick a time and one or two sources of news/updates. Leave it alone outside of your chosen time.

Unplug from electronics at least part of the day.

And take some time to indulge in your hobby! I love adult coloring. I will be pulling out my Sharpies as soon as I hit publish on this blog post. What’s your favorite hobby?

Tell me, how are your coping with “social distancing”?
